Enjoy a ride aboard the annual 470 Club Excursion. This once a year trip departs our North Conway station at 9am on November 7, 2026 for an extended run over Crawford Notch! The 470 Club Excursion makes several stops along the way specifically to enable passengers to disembark and take line-side photos of vintage locomotives and equipment. This annual event typically runs between 5-8 hours and returns to the North Conway station in the evening.
The 470 Club Excursion is a favorite of railway enthusiasts that features an unusual locomotive consist. Like the regularly scheduled Mountaineer, this train journeys over the former Maine Central Railroad Mountain Division, but may go beyond the normal running limits offered by regularly scheduled trains.
You will travel through Crawford Notch, on our line that offers spectacular natural scenery with views of steep cliffs, deep ravines, cascading brooks and streams, panoramic mountain vistas and takes you across both the curved Frankenstein Trestle and the towering Willey Brook Bridge. As you travel through this rugged terrain, you can begin to appreciate the remarkable engineering of a railroad built 150 years ago.
