In 2020, we renamed our ‘Notch Train’ as the Mountaineer to recapture the tradition & romance of the historic train that once traversed our lines. Conway Scenic Railroad’s Mountaineer offers a supremely scenic 4.5 hour rail journey through the Mount Washington Valley, and over the majestic Crawford Notch gateway where we will reverse direction.

What’s included

Our Mountaineer consists of 1950s-era streamlined passenger cars to recreate the experience of a post-World War II Transcontinental streamlined train. Our new Dome Dining Class and Lower Dining First Class sections are built for extreme luxury and comfort with vintage decor mixed with contemporary features.

We offer several classes of travel; Premium Dome Dining Class, First Class Dining, First Class and Coach Class.

What’s not included

Ticket prices do not include food which can be purchased on the train if you are in Dome Dining or First-Class Dining Class on the day of travel. There is a CASH ONLY snack bar that is available on the train for every class. Due to the length of the journey, dogs are not permitted on the Mountaineer Excursion
