Conway Scenic Railroad will be operating a special train from North Conway to the Whitefield diamond and the famous ball signal there on Sunday, September 3. The Whitefield ball signal stands as the last remaining signal of its type in its original location.
This will be the first passenger train to operate over this remaining portion of former Boston & Maine track from Hazens to Whitefield since Mass Bay Railroad Enthusiasts’ Day White Mountains trip from Boston to Berlin in May of 1982.
The excursion will leave the North Conway station promptly at 9:30 a.m., then head north and west through Crawford Notch to Hazens. From there, it will continue west on the former B&M track for about three miles to the diamond in Whitefield. The train will be posed beside the ball signals for photos.
