Conway Scenic Railroad is in the process of purchasing ex-Norfolk & Western Railroad dining car #492 from the Maine Rail Group/Down East Rail. This dining car was built by Pullman Standard in 1948. The car is currently located in Newcastle, Maine, and we hope to have it in North Conway by the end of the year. The dining car business is a real growth area for us with our current 47 seats in Dining Car Chocorua selling out on a regular basis.

Once in service, the plan would be to operate #492 on the Notch train for luncheon service (possibly 2 seatings) and then switch it into the Valley train when more seats are needed for the evening train. The basis car is in excellent condition but it needs to be outfitted with appliances, tables, and chairs.

At this writing, our new Budd RDC is in Groveton, NH, headed our way. We hope to have it in North Conway very soon.

A deal has been struck with the owner of the ex-Central Vermont Russell snow plow that has long been stored in Whitefield, NH. The plow along with two ballast cars in the Whitefield yard will soon be moving to Conway Scenic. I am not sure how it will actually work out yet, but we have the potential to bring the RDC, the plow, and the two ballast cars to North Conway in one move. That will make an interesting train.

That's about all from here at this time, as always thank you for your interest in and support of Conway Scenic Railroad.

BE SAFE,
Paul Hallett
