New Engines Arrive for the 2010 Season!

On Friday, May 14, CSRR picked up it’s new GP35 #216 at Whitefield, NH. The locomotive had departed from the Pan Am Railways heavy maintenance facility in Waterville, ME the previous Wednesday. It traveled to Danville Junction (Lewiston, ME) on Pan Am Railways and then went on the St. Lawrence and Atlantic Railroad to Groveton, NH, where New Hampshire Central Railroad took it to Whitefield. We picked the unit up around 1 pm and had it back in North Conway at 5:45 that evening. GP7 number 573 was dispatched to go get the unit, and they both looked good with their respective paint schemes. #573 is in the Maroon Maine Central Scheme and #216 is in the ‘yellow bird’ Maine Central scheme of the 1960’s. #216 will have a radio installed, and we will do a few other maintenance items, then the unit will be ready for service.

Stay tuned for more updates and more equipment moves in the near future!
