Valley Trains

We have two Valley Trains, both departing from our historic train station
in the heart of North Conway Village:

The 11-mile, 55-Minute Roundtrip
Conway Excursion
 View | Close

The 11-mile, 55-minute roundtrip Conway excursion is ideal for visitors wanting to experience the enjoyment of a "shorter" train ride. Coach, First Class, and Dining Car options are available.

Trains depart from the North Conway Station daily one to three times a day, depending on the time of year, and offer beautiful views of the surrounding mountains as they travel south past farmlands, crossing Moat Brook and the Saco and Swift Rivers to Conway where you can watch the powerful locomotive "run-around" the train in preparation for the return trip.

Our First Class seats are aboard the Gertrude Emma, a beautifully restored Pullman Parlor-Observation Car. Built in 1898 for use on the "Pennsylvania Limited," the Gertrude Emma has been restored to its original splendor with individual wicker chairs, large double-wide windows, rich mahogany woodwork and open observation platform.

For those who want a special treat, relive the golden days of railroading as you travel aboard the elegant Dining Car Chocorua. Lunch is available on 1:30 PM. Conway departure. Please click here to view and print the menu. The wonderful meals are prepared to your order on board and are served to you with warm, friendly Yankee hospitality.

Notch Trains

On the Notch Train, you'll enjoy some of the finest natural scenery in the East as you travel through spectacular Crawford Notch - past sheer bluffs, steep ravines, cascading brooks and streams, panoramic mountain vistas, and across the famed Frankenstein Trestle and Willey Brook Bridge - enroute to Crawford Depot (5 hours roundtrip) or Fabyan Station (5-1/2 hours roundtrip). One of the premier scenic train rides in the East, the Crawford Notch excursion allows you the opportunity to relive a legend written in the annals of railroad history, when the first train traveled through Crawford Notch over 132 years ago. Live commentary includes history and folklore of the railroad and area, as well as points of interest.

Coach seating and climate controlled First Class seating are available aboard the Notch Train.. Choose either the CP Reed or Dome Car Dorthea Mae, both originally built in the mid-fifties for transcontinental service in Canada and the United States respectively. Seating in the Dome is available for a limited number of passengers. Weather permitting, an Open Coach is available for all passengers to enjoy.

The onboard snack bar offers a limited selection of individually priced sandwiches, snacks, and beverages for purchase. Box Lunches are available if pre-ordered with your reservation.
