Can I make reservations in advance?
Individual Reservations(less than 20 people) can be made online on our Now Buy Tickets Online feature for all trains throughout the season. DINING CAR RESERVATIONS may be made by phone at 603-356-9009, or online. Simply go to the Schedule section of this website, choose the date and time that you wish to dine with us, then click the "Now Buy Tickets Online" ticket on our Home page, and follow directions.

When does your ticket office open?
The North Conway Depot opens one (1) hour prior to the day's first train departure on any scheduled operating day.

Do you have handicap access?
We make every reasonable effort to accommodate our visitors' needs. However, handicapped accessibility on the Conway Scenic Railroad is limited to Coach seating due to the narrow vestibules and door openings on our historic passenger cars. Power wheel chairs that do not exceed 26" wide by 36" long usually will fit in the cars. Please contact us with additional details relative to any special requirements prior to your visit so that we can ensure a pleasant visit.

Can I buy something to eat on the train?
On the "Valley Trains," a limited selection of individually priced sandwiches, snacks, and beverages are available from mid-June to late October. Lunch is available aboard the climate controlled Dining Car "Chocorua" on selected 11:30AM and 1:30PM excursions, mid-June to late October. Dinner is available on all 6:00PM "Sunset" departures, mid-June to mid October. Meal Service is provided by Crawford's Restaurant to include a full liquor license and complete wine list. Special dietary needs can be accommodated with advance notice, and reservations are strongly recommended.

Dining Car reservations may be made by phone at 603-356-9009, or you can make reservations online. Please visit the Schedule section of this website to determine what day and date you wish to dine with us. You can then click on "Now Buy Tickets Online!" from our Home Page and proceed through the reservation process.

On the "Notch Train," the onboard snack bar offers a limited selection of individually priced sandwiches, snacks, and beverages for purchase.

For more information, see the last question, "Can I bring food onto the train?"

What about inclement weather?
All enclosed passengers cars are heated, and trains operate rain, snow, or shine.

Can I bring alcoholic beverages on board?
Passengers may not carry Alcoholic beverages onboard at any time. (Licensed Establishment RSA 179:27 Paragraph II)

Can I bring my dog?
Well-behaved dogs may travel in Coach aboard any train provided they are restrained by the owner.

Is the North Conway Freight House open to the public?
The North Conway Freight House is the home of the North Conway Model Railroad Club, which is open to the public Tues/Thur/Sat.

NCMRRC maintains a model railroad exhibit that is the envy of many clubs around the country. Well-known for its complexity, the HO display fascinates visitors with details like a ‘real’ campfire with hobos around it. The next time you're here, be sure to stop by!

Can I smoke on the train?
We are a no smoking property. Smoking is not permitted aboard any train, in any building or anywhere on railroad property.

Can I bring food onto the train?
Yes. We just ask that, if you eat on the train, you please be considerate and pick up after yourselves. If you would like to have a picnic before or after your Valley train ride, tables are available outside the North Conway station, and there are picnic tables at Crawford Station for Notch Train passengers.

What's the difference between Coach and First Class?
First Class cars have more leg room than do Coach cars. Also, the CP Reed and Dorthea Mae are air-conditioned. The Gertrude Emma, though not air-conditioned, has individual wicker seats at each window for optimum comfort and viewing.

What do you have for locomotives?
We have several diesel electric locomotives that were manufactured in the 1950s and 1960s, and they are our primary motive power. Our 1921 steam engine is used on the Valley trains from mid-September to mid-October, when ridership is at its peak here, and also during several early winter weekends.
